Active Refugee Admission Network Meeting
The German Network for Forced Migration Studies will hold an online meeting as part of the activities of the Active Refugee Admission Network (ARA) on Tuesday, 6 May between 14.30-16.00. The seminar features the following two presentations:
"The Swedish Model of Community Support – Background and Where We Are Today" by Erika Lofgren, Senior Durable Solutions Associate, UNHCR Representation for the Nordic and Baltic Countries
"Redefining the Approach to Resettlement and Reception: The Humanitarian Corridors Experience in Italy" by Antea Enna, Adjunct Professor, UNIDARC; Associated Researcher, Département des études contemporaines (DÉC), Institut Française du Proche Orient (IFPO) Beirut
The Active Refugee Admission Network, which collaborates with the
CoSME Project (Community Sponsorship for Migrants in Europe), explores policies and programmes that facilitate the safe and organised entry of refugees into host countries.
Under the term Active Refugee Admission Policies (ARAP), the network examines approaches such as resettlement, humanitarian admissions, and pathways through education, employment, or family reunification.
While countries like the U.S., Canada, and Australia have developed robust frameworks, European ARAPs are shaped by distinct geopolitical dynamics and evolving challenges.
This network fosters collaboration between scholars and practitioners to advance understanding and improve these policies.
