The German Network for Forced Migration Studies will hold an online meeting within the activities of the Active Refugee Admission Network on October 16, 2024, from 3:00 to 4:30 PM (CEST). The speakers for the meeting will be Dr. Tatjana Baraulina (Research Centre of the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees), presenting on “Refugee Aid versus Numbers: A Key Dilemma for Community Sponsorship Programmes? An Analysis Based on the German Case,” and Dr. Daniela Vitiello (Università degli Studi della Tuscia), who will introduce the CoSME project (Community Sponsorship for Migrants in Europe).

The Active Refugee Admission Network focuses on policies and programs that facilitate the safe and organized entry of refugees into host countries. The network uses the term Active Refugee Admission Policies (ARAP) to encompass various approaches, such as resettlement, humanitarian admissions, and other pathways like education, employment, or family reunification. Although similar policies have been implemented in countries like the U.S., Canada, and Australia, European ARAPs differ significantly due to geopolitical factors and recent developments. The network aims to foster research and collaboration among academics and practitioners to deepen understanding and improve policies.
